IDENTITY

LEARNING TARGET:
In this unit we will be investigating the concept of identity and how it can be expressed with art. You will reflect on your own identity then learn how to communicate it through symbolism and clay.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
  • I can explain what identity is and why it is important
  • I can describe and interpret the meaning of an artwork about identity by providing strong evidence from the work
  • I understand my identity including personal, social, cultural, personality, values, and interests.
  • I can represent my identity through symbolism
  • I can compose an artwork that represents my identity​
  • I can roll out a slab of clay
  • I can transfer an image onto clay
  • I can create a bas-relief artwork with at least 3 different depths
  • I can apply red-iron oxide 
  • I can create an artwork about my identity through symbolism and write an artist statement
