Identity

LEARNING TARGET:
In this unit we will be developing an artwork about identity. We will be doing this through practicing symbolism, composition, creation of slabs, carving, and the application of red-iron oxide.

SUCCESS CRITERIA:

We will be able to explain what identity is and why it is important
We will be able to interpret an artwork about identity by using evidence
We will be able to understand our identities including personal, social, cultural, personality, values, and interests.
We will be able to represent our identities through symbolism
We will be able to compose an artwork that represents our identity
We will be able to roll out a slab of clay
We will be able to transfer an image onto clay
We will be able to create a bas-relief artwork with at least 3 different depths
We will be able to apply red-iron oxide
We will be able to create an artwork about my identity through symbolism and write an artist statement
